NEW SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
The School has a new Principal. He is Mr Yeo Kuerk Heng. Mr
Yeo, who is 46 years old, was the Principal of Nan Chiau High
for six months before he was appointed Principal of Serangoon
Secondary School upon the retirement of the former Principal, Mr
Dilbagh Singh. Prior to that was the Vice-Principal of Siglap
Secondary School.
A visionary, Mr Yeo has bold plans to raise the academic
standard in Serangoon.
We support him in his challenge to bring the level of
academic excellence to new heights.

SOSA MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY
SOSA’s membership directory was launched on 1 February 2004.
The aim of the directory is to enable members to network with
one other by providing useful information for exchange.
Information to be exchanged could include business propositions,
job opportunities or social activities.
To-date the response to the Directory has been quite good. We
have also published the information received by posting them in
the Association’s website.
As success of the directory depends on members’ response, those
who have yet to submit details required for the directory please
forward them by fax to Mr. Lloyd Chua at fax No 62703108 or
e-mail him at info@sosa.com.
SOSA MENTORSHIP SCHEME
To help the students of the School, the
Association is embarking on getting members and ex-students to
mentor to bright and creative students. The primary aim is to
nurture these students to excel when they leave the School and
go on to tertiary institutions.
As a pilot project, we would recruit 2 to 3 mentors to mentor to
about 4 to 6 students.
We do not have the details as yet but will be discussing this with
the Principal. The selection of students to be mentored will be
left to the School.
The Association is therefore looking for potential mentors.
Those who are interested can contact the Association’s
President, Mr. Liew at Tel No 62824268 or 93877151 (Hp) or
e-mail him at info@sosa.com.

AWARDS FOR COMPUTER STUDIES
The School will be embarking on giving every student an
opportunity to do computer studies as an examination subject.
This will enable students to be literate in computer studies
which will stand them in go stead in this age of knowledge-based
economies.
To do our part in this endeavour, we are looking for co-sponsors
with the Association to give either one or two awards to the
student who has the best results in computer studies or the top
two students who excel in this subject.
If you are interested in being a co-sponsor, please drop a line
to the Association.
