TEACHERS’ DAY HI-TEA

 

The Teachers’ Day Hi-Tea was held on Tuesday, 31 August 2004 at the MOE Sports and Recreation Club, Evans Road. It was hosted by the School and attended by the former Principal, Mr Dilbagh Singh, Vice-Principal, Mdm Lee Seck Yeong, teaching staff, including non-teaching staff SAC and SOSA Management Committee members.

The get to-gether of the School, School Advisory Committee (SAC) and SOSA is organized once a year and hosted by rotation.

This year’s get-together will a dinner hosted by the SAC and SOSA.
 

 

SOSA ANNUAL DINNER 2004

The Association held its Annual Dinner 2004 at the Amara Hotel on 28 August 2005. Some 250 members, ex-students and friends and their spouses attended.

The Guest of Honour was Prof Lenny Tan Kheng Ann, an old student of the School and former Dean, Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore.

Among the prominent members who were present at the dinner included, Mr Ngiam Tong Dow, Chairman, HDB Corporation and former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Mr Richard Gomez, a well-known Singapore hockey international and, currently working for a Swiss-owned cargo handling company at Changi Airport.

We were also fortunate to have the former General Manager of Amara Hotel, Mr Peter Teo, an old student of the Serangoon English School, the predecessor of the present School to grace the occasion.

Among the highlights of the dinner was an auction of two paintings by students of the School and a lucky draw where the top prize was a DVD player.

TIME CAPSULE CEREMONY

The President and some members of the SOSA Management Committee were present to officiate at the encapsulating of the time capsule on Tuesday, 28 December 2004 at the School premises.

Also present were the former Principal, Mr Dilbagh Singh, Vice-Principal, Mdm Lee Seck Yeong, staff and students of the School.

The President was given the honour to encapsulate the first item in the time capsule which was the school uniform and a tie while the Principal encapsulated the last item comprising a Dedication Book and a farewell CD-Rom.

In all, a total of 22 items were encapsulated. The time capsule will be opened in about 50 years time.

 

22ND ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The 22nd Annual General Meeting of the Association was held on Saturday, 6 April 2005 at the Serangoon Secondary School and attented by 9 members.

In the election for office-bearers, Mr Liew Cheng Song was re-elected the President of the Association for a yet another term.
